1873 CC Liberty Dime
The 1873-CC Liberty Dime is highly prized among collectors due to its exceptional rarity and collectability. This dime was produced at the Carson City Mint from 1837 to 1891. Its place of origin was Carson City, Nevada, which can be identified by the “CC” mint mark. The “Eros et Date” design distinguishes it from other dimes. There are two major types of 1873-CC Liberty dimes: “With Arrows” and “Without Arrows”. American engraver and engraver, Christian Gobrecht, created the 1873-CC Liberty Seatet Dime.
This design, first used in 1837, continued until 1891, although there were several modifications. On the obverse of this dime, Lady Liberty is depicted seated on a rock, holding a shield in her right hand and a pole in her left hand, with a Pharygian hat on top. Also known as “seated liberty”. The words “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” are engraved on the edge of the dime. The year 1873 is written below Lady Liberty. On the back of the dime, there is an open laurel wreath. A bow is tied beneath the wreath. The engraving on the inside of the rosary reads “ONE DIME.” A “CC” which indicates this is a product of the Carson City Mint is engraved at the bottom of the wreath.
